WHAT A DISGRACE!!! MY FIANCEE HAS A COMPLETE COMPREHENSIVE PORTFOLIO WITH OLD MUTUAL SINCE 2009. SHE TOOK OUT A DEATH COVER, COMPREHENSIVE DISABILITY AS WELL AS A SEVERE ILLNESS COVER. LAST MONTH THE DOCTORS DIAGNOSED HER WITH MELANOMA CANCER (A SERIOUS FAST SPREADING TYPE OF CANCER). SHE FILLED IN THE CLAIM FORM WITH HER BROKER AND HER BROKER TOLD HER LATER THAT SHE IS COVERED FOR R1 MILLION FOR THIS. TODAY HER BROKER TOLD HER THAT OLD MUTUAL REFUSED TO PAY OUT THE CLAIM, AS SHE HAS DEPRESSION AND SHE DID NOT STATE THAT ON HER APPLICATION QUESTIONNAIRE.
WHAT HAS DEPRESSION TO DO WITH CANCER? WHY DO THEY ALWAYS TRY TO FIND A REASON NOT TO PAY OUT? I STOPPED ALL MY PERSONAL INSURANCE BECAUSE OF THIS TYPE OF SIMILAR BEHAVIOUR FROM THE INDUSTRY.
