I submitted a claim to Standard Bank Insurance for soil erosion damage after heavy rains on24/10/2012. After months of trying to get an answer and pushing from my side, even getting my business manager involved, my claim was eventually rejected on 10/6 2013. They gave me a string of legal, fine print reasons as to why the claim was rejected. Apart from the time it took before the rejection notification, and the fact that it would take them weeks to respond to my e-mails, no-one bothered checking the condition or state of the property when they signed me up for insurance, but were very quick to demand engineers inspections and reports (at MY costs) following my claim. I have another property insured with Santam and they come and inspect it every year when it is due for renewal. Why is Standard Bank Insurance different? I now have a huge bill to pay out my own pocket and am very angry and upset about the whole issue!!!
