No response regarding cancellation request

I sent an email on 20/08 stating my intention to cancel my policy and requesting assistance in doing so. I received no response. I sent another email on 27/08 again with no response. I also called on the same day and as your lines were busy I left a message with your message centre and was assured someone in the retentions department would contact me back. More than a day later I again called your company and the same thing happened. Lines all busy and I left another message. The lady I spoke to said that you have a 24 hour turn around on returning calls. I explained to her that my second call has been placed more than 24 hours after the 1st call and that no one had yet returned my call. It is now almost a day later again and I have still not had a response. I have taken out a new insurance policy with another company which will be effective on 01/09 and therefore need my policy with you cancelled with the last day of cover being 31/08. When can I actually expect you to respond to my request which was now initially lodged over a week and a half ago?
