My son and his fiance went to Standard Bank Garden Route Mall to get a travel wallet and foreign currency as a matter of urgency. The clerks at the counter said his account were not "FIGA" ( my son had no idea what they were talking about) and said they needed proof of address - no other advice given. Being on holiday they had no paperwork and got their lease agreement faxed through at an internet cafe. Went back with this and then there was another problem as there were no signatures. At no time were they explained what the problem actually was and the solution. They were then sent to Mossel Bay (45 km away) and were again rejected not knowing why. Finally my husband had to go with them back to George (another 45km) and finally they were told to go and FICA his accounts first. This took over 2 hours and they finally got their currency. The attitude of the clerks was totally unhelful and the poor communication did not help. It took the entire day. Surely these clerks should know better. They even apologised at the end, acknowledging poor service. Very disappointing.
