Nedbank
Debit order date changed without my consent

Business & Finance

I am very disappointed to find out that Nedbank Personal Loans took a unilateral decision to change my debit order date from 31 of each month to the 21 of this month! Surely such a change would require my consent as I would be renegotiating an aspect of my loan contract (which I have never missed a payment on). In addition no attempt was made by Nedbank to inform me in writing (whether by surface mail/sms/email) that they had taken this unilateral decision.

Why did Nedbank fail to obtain my permission/consent? Surely, this is a breach of contract? Or, at the very least, could they not have sent me a letter/sms/email IN GOOD TIME (so that I could make the necessary financial arrangements).

Apparently this has been done to scores of clients???

Should a BANK be allowed to do this? Should we as consumers tolerate a breach of contract from a bank? If a consumer breaches contract, there is to pay... but the reverse does not seem to be true when the bank does?

I would like a detailed, written response from Nedbank in this regard... Not just an 'apology'! My trust has been broken - a 'standard apology' won't cut it this time.
