Money taken out of my account!!!

On Sunday I made a purchase at Mango in the waterfront. The purchase went through on my side as the money was taken off my account. I got the sms and I could see that the last transaction was at Mango on my banking app. The shop assistant told me that my card was declined though, even though the money had gone out of my account. After waiting FOREVER on the phone to the helpline, I finally got assistance. The lady on the telephone had the nerve to tell me I must just pay for my purchase again and that the bank will do an investigation and if the money didn't go through to the merchant then I will get it back but if it did then I won't get my money back. I don't even understand how she found this logical at all because I would just be paying double then. She told me this investigation would take 12 working days. I don't understand how it can take so long, either the merchant got the money or they didn't. Instead I have to be R800 less in my account and less my purchase as the shop obviously couldn't give it to me. I am really annoyed at this. I just spent money on air. I was even told that I might not get my money back - what the Standard Bank, how is this my fault or problem
