Standard Bank
Charged for statements not required

Business & Finance

I noticed that I had a R1-80 charge on my account for "postage of statement". I had asked for and am receiving my statements by e-mail, but, according to them, I was not receiving them from the right address. I quote from the mail I received -

"We have enquired on your account and noticed that you are not registered for formal e-statements, but rather you could be registered for Internet Banking e-statements.

The difference is that the formal e-statements are sent from [Email Removed] whereas the e-statements received from Internet banking are sent via [Email Removed] "

Now, how am I supposed to know this. I then replied with the information they required to register me correctly, but, no surprise, I was again charged for a posted statement. Again I queried by e-mail and got back a garbled excuse. Upon e-mailing the address on the Standard Bank website (as per Banking Ombudsman), I have not received a reply from them - 28/5 until 5/6.
This is not acceptable and I am now considering laying charges of
