Nedbank
Changing debit orders without consent

Business & Finance

I got an sms today from Nedbank stating that they will now be debiting my account on the 24th of each month - regardless of the fact that I get paid on the 26th, as CLEARLY stated on my payslip, and because my place of employment banks with another bank, I only receive my salary on the 27th. If the 26th falls over a weekend, I do receive my salary on that Saturday. This is not something I am in control of. Also, I am a teacher, and because of school holidays / midterms, I might receive my salary earlier than the date stated on my payslip. What INFURIATES me is that I have never missed a payment, or fallen behind on my Nedbank loan. Every month my debit order goes off like clock-work. Now, what happens if there is no money in my account on the 24th? That means I have to pay an unpaid debit order, which will also put a bad reflection on my credit. I signed documents which clearly states which dates my debit order must go off. No Nebank thinks they can go against an agreed upon signed contract, and make me pay them money for unpaid debit orders? Is this now a new way to "make money"? This is UNACCEPTABLE. If this is not rectified, I will be changing to another bank.
