I've finally submitted the supporting documentation in regard to the two funeral policies in regard to a claim for my late mother. I've followed up numerous times, I either don't get a response or I get an excuse that they are still awaiting on the SAPD regarding a police report (I don't understand the relevance of a police report anyway, as the policies are older than the prescribed period - so it doesn't really matter what the police report states - there is no excuse to not paying out). It's been TWO MONTHS already now, Absa promises to pay out within 48 hours... I'm utterly disgusted by this service and want to warn other potential customers thinking of taking out funeral cover with them. The passing of a loved one is a traumatic and sad time - Absa only adds on the experience - I've gone into debt now because of funeral expenses - I have no food in my cupboards and it's adding a lot of stress and strain on me just because Absa doesn't care. The nice glossy funeral policy brochures promises to help loved ones after you are gone - THIS IS A LIE - I've been waiting so long - my late mother paid every month, and Absa was too quick to take that debit order every month.
