I was billed R284.00 on my credit card for an annual service fee which is actually included in my monthly fees. I had to complain to the call centre twice and it took two weeks for the amount to be paid back. Straight after that there was a R9.00 charge on my cheque account for a posted statement fee. I did not request such a statement and have been with standard bank for many years in which time I have always had internet banking and checked my statements online. I have been trying for three weeks to have this amount reversed. (Reference numbers: 52903836 and 38308283). It is not the amount that is the problem but the principal and the fact that I am afraid that more amounts will be taken from my accounts. I was assured by more than one call centre agent that the amount would be repaid and then two others said that it could not be repaid. One of the agents said that the bank had tried to contact me about the matter but claimed they only had my home number. They have my cellphone number and e-mail but there were no attempts to contact me on those. I complained on the website last week and still no response. Standard bank really does not care.
