On 15/12/12 my property was burgled. To date I am waiting for a positive response from ABSA insurance with regard to the damage to property claim (Building claim: 2304196). Finally, on 02/05/2013, they contacted me regarding the claim. Needless to say, there are now excuses - a - plenty regarding what is immovable and what not. Certainly, if an item forms part of the system of the structure, like an alarm system, a gate motor, or in fact as in this case, a CCTV recording system (which was incidentally ripped out of the structure) it should form part of the structure. They seem to disagree.
The excuses are lame, and inconsistent, and includes documentation lost etc. THIS IS A JSE LISTED BANK!
How on earth can a bank and their subsidiaries treat a customer of 44 years like this.
The whole matter is absolutely unacceptable, not only the quibbling, but also the time it takes to settle a simple claim.
Is it their strategy to do nothing, and wait for the customer to give up, or to make the customer feel like they are in the wrong, and just leave the claim? It certainly feels like this is the case.
OWN UP TO YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES, you are GETTING PAID for this on a monthly basis!!
