I booked Groupon accommodation for my family of 6 adults to stay at a self catering unit in JHB, in December for 5 nights as we were going to attend a family wedding. When we arrived we discovered to our horror that the place was run down and in serious need of repair and attention. The paint was peeling off some of the walls. Light fittings had no covers and only one out of 3 or 4 actually worked. The handle of the tap was loose and fell off periodically... etc, etc. I phoned the lady who took our original booking at Randburg Cottages (Loraine 011 794 4701) and she promised that the owner would call back. Over the next 5 days he never did although we called back repeatedly. On my return to CT I emailed this complaint to Groupon along with at least 10 photos of the state of the place. Nirmal replied to say how sorry he was. He offered to get someone higher up to respond, when I was not satisfied with his mere apology - they never did. I have used Groupon before, many times for a variety of different services, including accommodation which has been really great. Groupon should be responsible for checking up on their deals before advertising them. I would hesitate to recommend them.
