I recently purchased a voucher from Groupon for a cage diving expedition with Umkomaas Lodge Dive Charters. I booked for the weekend of the 15th of November. I even have a confirmation of our booking from Umkomaas Lodge, however when my wife and I got there on that Friday evening, we were told that they have unfortunately doubled booked and they had no rooms available for us, upon request for a refund, we were told that its not their problem and we must take it up with Groupon as we purchased the vouchers from them. I contacted Groupon and was told that we cannot be refunded and will receive a voucher from Groupon to purchase something else, I said that I would rather have a refund as I do not want something else and the lady asked that we send through the email confirmation from Umkomaas Lodge to corroborate my story which we did and to date have received no feedback. Surely Groupon should ensure that vouchers are sold for trustworthy service providers only as I now find myself in a situation where I cannot get reimbursed by Groupon because they insist on giving me a voucher to the same value failing to understand that it is against the law in terms of the CPA to do so.
