I wish to complain about an incident on an SA Airlink flight.
After take-off I was offered a cup of coffee and opened up the tray in front of me. The cup of boiling hot coffee was handed to me and placed on the tray in front of me. Almost instantly there was a slight movement in the plane and before I could stop it the cup had slid off the tray and tipped over completely, spilling the entire contents into my lap. I could not have imagined the agony & pain of the excruciatingly hot liquid which soaked through my clothes and scorched my skin. I had to tear at my clothes to pull them away from my skin, and in the process tore the silk top I was wearing.
I realised that there was no cup holder, depression or restraint of any form to hold a cup in place on the tray. In addition the tray was very smooth and flat without even the merest lip to stop anything from falling off. I experimented with another cup and saw that a glass or cup would slide very easily with the slightest movement - no wonder the cup fell off. I wonder how many more of these incidents there are with other passengers. They tray clearly has a design fault
SAA have already refused to deal with my complaint direct
