Stupid rules plus bad superviso

My wife and I travelled together to Cape Town and thought we were being clever by packing one suitcase. We got to the airport and were told that although we were allowed 40kg, each bag was only allowed 20kg and our suitcase weighed 25.8kg so we had to pay overweight. They refused to let us on the aircraft without paying overweight and this supervisor (Nhlanhla) at the counter who clearly had the authority to wave this stupidity stubbornly refused to do so. I had to buy a new suitcase at the airport for R1000 to transfer stuff into. I appreciate at some point a bag gets too big to handle but at 25.8 kg - come on Kulula, stop the mindless adherence to rules, we did you a favour by being 14.2kg underweight and you still wanted to charge us overweight!!! Brain dead...
