I am outraged at the manner my family and myself were spoken to by staff at Cape Town International Airport. I flew from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. My father who is in his final stages of cancer opted to go with to the airport to see me off. Once we arrived at the airport we asked if we could use a wheelchair and we explained our situation. We were given one and was told once we leave we need to return it. One of the staff members came to him and demanded that he returns the wheelchair, but it was done it such a rude manner and we were not explained that the wheelchair is used for passengers. My father was then forced out of the seat. I am angered because the one day that he feels strong and capable he was treated so badly and was made to feel like trash. Even though he has cancer he is a person with emotions. My father went home feeling really terrible and a good day turned out to be his worst. All I ask is that the staff at Cape Town International airport improve on their customer and interpersonal skills. They are a reflection of not only Cape Town, but of South Africa as well and I am disgusted if they treat tourists to our city and country in that manner.
