On Thursday 24 October, P Hattingh, was booked on one of the buses from Johannesburg to Margate.
Whilst waiting at Park bus station, she heard that the bus had broken down. Waited 40 minutes for a taxi. The first taxi took half the passengers to Benoni, while the passenger waited for the second taxi with a trailer. On arriving in Benoni at a garage, she waited another half hour for the replacement bus to arrive.
They stopped at Harrismith for 20 minutes and 10 minutes later, the bus broke down. Between three bus employees they managed to get the bus back on the road but, later, the same problem happened. In Pietermaritzburg they asked for a mechanic, who assisted them to repair the bus, arriving in Margate at about 09:30 on Friday morning.
How can a bus liner allow vehicles to reach such a state of disrepair, thereby placing the lives of the passengers in danger!
