I booked for a bus for a family of four from Johannesburg to Durban for Friday the 08th of November 2013 to depart at 08h30, I arrived exactly at 08h30 after the said check in and myself and my wife tried to stop the bus from leaving as it was leaving the bays but to no success.

We were eventually told to ask for a transfer to a 11h00 bus departure with which we did and had to pay extra penalties. I feel that we were punished for unforeseen circumstances where we were trapped in traffic on our way to the bus station. My concern here is that I did not even receive a call from their call centre to alert me and the 11h00 bus arrived at 10h50 at the Johannesburg depot and only left the station at 11h15, am I allowed to penalize them for late departure?
