I used this companies online Chat service to find out information about booking a flight for my sister in law from Belarus to Johannesburg. Due to visa issues I had to book a return flight but knew that I would be cancelling the return section. I was told to pay the R289 cancellation fee and promised that if I booked with them I would be given a refund on the return. The refund would be higher the earlier I cancelled. The flight was R800 more then booking with the airline but the cancellation policy seemed like a good idea. The visa issue was sorted within a week of her arrival so emailed Travelstart to cancel the flight and organise the refund. Allistair informed me that after I paid a fee of R100 I would recieve a refund of R609. On an R11000 plus flight this is a pathetic amount of money. I was also told the refund will be the same no matter when I cancel. I would have been better off financially booking with Etihad directly. I will advise all my blog readers and friends to never go near Travelstart.
