Misleading advertising & unethical sales practices

We signed a contract with GTASA last year at a sales event when we were promised access to massive discounts on all holiday bookings locally and overseas on their website. They mentioned that they had operated in the US for many years. Once we had signed up and paid a deposit of R8958, we eventually got access to the website which we discovered is still "under construction" and had nothing to offer. They simply operate as a travel agency for people who don't have access to the internet and their prices are no less than what I can get on [URL Removed] or elsewhere on the web. In addition, they are not affiliated to GTA in the US - this was a lie. After much discussion I cancelled the contract and was prepared to write off the R8958 already paid. However they demanded a further payment of R1647 before they would cancel. Although I could pay this, I refused as a matter of principle, and feel that other people should be warned about the unethical behaviour and misrepresentation, and be warned. They have now refused to cancel and are demanding payment of a total of R40 000 for "membership" of their travel organisation.
