MTN online preorder of Galaxy S4 a sham

With anticipation, I pre-ordered the Galaxy S4 on MTN's website, to which I received the following confirmation sms's on 12 April: "Y'ello!! Thank You for registering for the Samsung GALAXY S4. Our agents will contact you soon with an update on your registration." & "Y'ello!! Thank you for registering for the Samsung GALAXY S4. We have recorded your details and will reveal more information to you soon."

No one contacted me, but I did receive the same sms's again on the 17th.
On the 26th, just a day before the BIG DAY, I received the following sms from the same number: "Be the first to own the NEW Samsung GALAXY S4, it is now available at any MTN Store from 10am Saturday 27 April 2013. T&C's Apply."

And then the great day arrived! Only to be told by numerous stores that they knew nothing about the online pre-orders and that they only have S4's for the people who pre-ordered in person. This included the stores in Centurion Mall, Irene, Southdowns, Brooklyn Mall and Design Square.

Subsequent hours spent on hold and talking with various people on the other side of 808, made it clear that MTN knew even less about this than my gran did.

And here I am today, Galaxyless.
