Samsung Galaxy S4 Faulty battery

Electronics and household app.

I renewed my Vodacom contract about a month ago, and I decided to get a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. Sunday 20/10/2013 I noticed my phone switches off whenever I download applications. I restored my factory settings (thinking it was a virus), just to notice my battery got swollen. I took it to the Samsung electronics shop. They notified me I must take it to Vodacom. I don't understand, if its a hardware problem and I read online that we must take the phone to the nearest Samsung electronics shop to exchange the battery (because of client satisfaction), why did I not receive a new battery??? I went to Vodacom (mall of the north) and I had to hear, there is no stock and I have to sent my phone and battery to be repaired. Why do I need to sent my phone along when its a battery issue. I need my phone with me and Vodacom also did not have any loan phones. I am sad to say that I was a loyal Samsung client. Never had issues with my Galaxy S2. Please can you fix this ASAP.
