Inactive Phone for 2 Weeks, No-one can Help

My phone was playing up so I took it to the Service Centre in Midrand and they recommended a sim swap as they tested the handset and it was in perfect working order. On Sunday 14/04 I replaced the sim at MTN Nicolway and was told 2-24hrs and I would be back up and running. after the time expired, I was unable to connect so I called customer services from my land line as the sim would not even allow me to 808.After being passed around between "activations" and customer care, the problem could not be identified. At my first chance, I tried to take the handset & sim to the MTN service centre on Saturday 20/04 but as they were closed for stock take, I had to take it to MTN Midrand (Boulders) where a very helpful lady named Lebo spend 2hrs testing and attempting to fix it, as everything tested fine, she logged a call with the call centre (Ref's 003575746 and 99222058) and told me 24-48hrs. On Monday after the time had once again passed I called customer care and was told no, 3-4 days. At this point I lost it. 1 Week with no phone. Numerous calls later, no joy so I asked for Rententions and have started the process of cancelling the contract. What am I paying for? I want answers.
