Vodacom
Charged for data roaming even after deactivated

Telecommunications

I recently left SA to work in the UK and asked that my account be switched to prepaid on 31 Jan, I arrived on 24 Jan and ensured that my data roaming was deactivated. I have the confirmation sms to prove it. A month later I received a bill which I contested and was told that data charges had been incurred and my account was not switched to prepaid. Vodacom confirmed through telephonic records that I was due to switch to prepaid and I sent my sms confirming deactivated data roaming and a credit was processed. A month later and I received a R3000 bill for the same reason, I required my SA number to be active to receive notifications and sms's, my phone accesses data without any input resulting in charges. This is therefore Vodacom's fault as my phone should have been prepaid and data requests should have been blocked. I was told that no further credit would be processed even though they accepted my first argument. I have been a Vodacom customer for years and was planning to renew the contracts within my house hold in the coming months. I am very disappointed at the way Vodacom have handled this and it seems like they have made a very short term gain but lost a long term custome
