Vodacom
Bad attitude towards longstanding prepaid custome

Telecommunications

Before I left South Africa on the 5th of February 2013 to fly to Ghana, I was most ably assisted by the lady at the Vodacom kiosk (at the airport in George) to setup SMS roaming on my prepaid phone by sending "roamon" to 123.

Upon arrival in Ghana I received a "Welcome to Ghana" SMS from Vodafone Ghana. I also sent and received various SMS's on the 5th and 6th of February while in Ghana and therefore accepted that the SMS roaming was working. However, from the 7th I received no further SMS's and since the 7th I cannot connect to any local mobile networks in order to send an SMS. I even tried my sim in another phone.

I thought that perhaps my prepaid credit was exhausted and added some credit using my internet banking account but still to no avail.

I emailed my wife to contact Vodacom in order to rectify the situation. My wife informed me that Vodacom Customer Care had informed her that Vodacom did not have an agreement with a service provider in Ghana for roaming and yet there are other South Africans here with working Vodacom roaming. She was also told that roaming doesn't apply to prepaid customers.

Please rectify this ASAP as I need to do urgent banking and need a OTP!
