Vodacom claims water damage on my iPhone

My iPhone 4S's, which is still under warranty, volume control just stop working last week. The other functions are still working 100%. I took it to my nearest Vodacom repair centre in Potchefstroom and they said that they'd have to send it to the advanced repair centre. Today I have received and sms stating that I would have to pay over R2000 to repair my phone. I then phoned my local repair centre and asked them why this was the case. The consultant told me that the techs found water damage on my phone. I told them that this was not the case and that I want to speak with head office. After phoning head office and them telling me the same thing, I decided not to leave it there. My phone haven't been anywhere near water and I am very protective of it. I have read of many cases of iphones that gave a false positive for water damage, that it the reason why I refuse to accept this blatant daylight. Why must I pay for something that is clearly not my fault. Now I'm also suffering the inconvenience of not having my precious smart phone. If this is the type of service that vodacom offers to their clients, I will be moving to another service provider very soon.
