Vodacom
Sales agents disinterested in clarity

Telecommunications

I bought a new cell phone, on contract, one of many I have with Vodacom, and the agent offered me insurance - never had any before, but followed his advice. Filled in the value I was willing to pay on and he presented me with this page of tiny, writing about the contract, so I asked if there was anything that I needed to know that might be different to 'normal' insurnace - answer, 'no, just the same'. So I initialled the page, did the sim swap and off I went. Decided that I ddn't really want to keep the phone as my primary phone, so took another one of my contract sims to same agent and swapped it out to use in this insured phone - the asset. This phone was subsequently, so blacklisted it, got the SAPS numbers and filled in the insurance - they blithely called me to tell me that the number in use of that phone was not insured so tough luck! Go back to the dealer you got the phone from and see if they can help. They also gave me an email address to which to write to ask for some help with my complaint - still no answer two weeks later! Vodacom's response has been that the sims are insured (have you ever heard this one?) - the asset is the phone - no more business Voda!
