Voda Sure: insurance under insured

I am highly upset at the service that I received from Vodacom. I was called to do an upgrade over the phone and email, my biggest peeve is that my insurance was not upgraded nor was I given instructions in what to do with regards to insurance.
I have always used Voda Sure and as a loyal customer I expect that when changes are done on my contract I should at least be given the option to change my insurance to fit my upgrade.
My phone was damaged on the 5th November 2013 and when I went to claim I was told that I am under insured and therefore they can't do anything about it - how is it my fault that I am under insured when the upgrade was done no information was passed to me.
I find it bizzare that Voda Sure that is under Vodacom couldn't even notify me or make changes because my sim will reflect that I am using a NEW phone of a certain VALUE - so you are basically setting up your customers for a fail.
Would appreciate a solution to this.
