Telecommunications

I have been due for an upgrade of my contract, which I have carried out at the Vodashop at Norwood mall on the 14-03-2013, where by I was issued with a new phone BB 9360, once I opened the packaging, I noticed that the scroll bar button on the phone was quite loose, as if it was going to come apart, so I took the phone back to the store, the next day 15-03-2013, whereby it was sent for repairs and was notified that I will be called when the fault has been approved.

On 22-03-2013 I went back to the store because the fault was approved by supplier and they issued me a new BB 9360, and noticed the battery, from half life, was dead within half an hour of exploring the phone. I took the phone back to the store, on the 25-03-2013, to cancel the contract because I was not satisfied with the phone that was issued, and it still is within the "7 day cooling period". Whereby the staff was extremely rude, and I was notified that the contract cannot be cancelled nor could I be issued with another phone, the 7 day period is only for repairs of the phone only.
I do not want a contract which I have to pay for a phone that I am not happy with!! What happened to the "7 Day cooling period"?
