Won't process cancellation

I logged a request for the premature cancellation of my contract five days ago. I was told that there is a 24 hour turnaround time. Five days later, I have not gotten confirmation that my contract has been cancelled. I settled the amount outstanding on my account five days ago. Today I called the 082-1958 call centre to check what was going on. After waiting for over 10 minutes somebody answered my call. The person said that they did not have my documents which I resent. The person then told me that she sees the payment reflecting on my account but could not process the cancellation UNTIL I SENT THEM A PROOF OF PAYMENT OF THE MONEY SITTING IN THEIR ACCOUNT! After establishing with this person that the credit balance on my account from the money paid five days ago was proof that I had paid, she promised to get me a letter saying that my account was cancelled and paid up. I mailed this person later this afternoon to see what the status was on my request, only to have her tell me that it would still be another 48 hours to get a letter with company logo saying "MR xxx has paid up and cancelled his account.". Is that so hard? Am I alone in this world?
