Negligence results in more than R1000 in damages

In August 2011, I upgraded my account to a Blackberry Talk 100 package at the V & A Vodastore and gave an implicit instruction with confidence in their service capability to remove my SMS bundle, as it would be redundant.
I glanced at my account the other day and noticed that my sms bundle is still active. I thought this was an error as I know for a fact that I cancelled it. When contacting the 082 111 number I was informed that this is not Vodacom's problem as I gave the insruction in-store and not over the telephone (which I also dont understand as I thought Vodashops belong to Vodacom and therefore there is a joint responsibility).
I contacted the V & A Waterfront Vodashop and waited almost 3 weeks for a reply saying they cant assist me as it is 20 months ago and I should have spoken up sooner? I am a busy person and out of the country half the time and I don't always have the time to check up that service providers, who can't follow instructions, do their jobs properly.
If this was a meagre amount it would be acceptable, but it has accumulated to in excess of a R1000 that has basically been from me through complete negligence. This is unacceptable!!!
