WRONG INFO, deleting numbe

I requested my contract to be cancelled but informed them that I wish to retain my number. I was assured on 3 seperate occasions by people at customer service that the number will be available for pre paid after expiry of the contract. Yesterday the service was gone and after spending about an hour on the phone to customer service & cancellations (mostly just waiting for my call to be answered) I was told the number WAS deleted.
Now it's a process again to get it back - 24 to 48 hours! It's their mistake! Why must I wait 24 - 48 hours.
3 Days without a phone! Not acceptable!
