Vodacom Kept Debiting Money

In June this year my wife went to Vodacom in Fourways Mall to enquire about the end date of her Vodacom contract. She was clearly informed that the contract ended at the end of June 2013. We informed them that we want to close the contract and port the number to a new MTN contract. On the 1st of July we opened a new contract for my wife with MTN and ported the number to the new contract. MTN Nicol Way also informed Vodacom of the contract cancellation. Yesterday (12 Nov) I realized that Vodacom has still been debiting R511 from my account monthly. I called customer services who told me to call cancellations. Cancellations told me that the contract only ended in September and had not been cancelled when the number was ported.

My wife and I clearly acted on the information given to us by Vodacom Fourways in opening a new account and porting the number to MTN. 6 months later we have been debited a total of over R3000 for an account that was meant to have been closed. Cancellations told me to "go to the branch" to sort out our query. I strongly feel like Vodacom needs to take responsibility for the info we were given and refund the money debited.
