Cell C
Misinformation about data costs

Telecommunications

In December I took a 100 Straight Up contract and specifically asked the consultant whether I should add a data bundle because I know 100 Mb ain't enough for this internet user. No, not necessary, I am told, as once I use up the 100 Mb I am charged 15c/Mb which is the same as that for in-bundle rates. I asked again to make absolutely sure, because I know from Vodacom times that out-of-bundle data is more expensive, but am assured that this is the way it works at Cell C.
Not.
At the end of January, I didn't blink too much at the amount deducted as this was supposedly for December & January. Well, guess what. Come end of February, the amount is again considerably more than my contract amount. For 256 Mb of data I am not charged R38.40 but R216.95. Excuse me? Phoned Customer (Non) Care and am told that because I do not have a data bundle (?) the charge is not 15c/Mb and that I am one of many customers who have phoned about this issue. I have essentially been overcharged to the tune of R460 for two months. And there is still February for which I which I will get the statement at the end of March.
As I was misled by a representative of Cell C, what do they propose as a solution?
