Vodacom
Failure to Cancel Insurance Policy

Telecommunications

In September I upgraded my contract at the Vodacom 4U store at the East Rand Mall in Gauteng.

With my upgrade I instructed the clerk assisting me that I did not wish to continue my insurance policy with Vodacom.

At the end of October I noticed that my Debit Order was too high. I assumed that this was to compensate for the Debit Order at the end of September which was too low. At the end of November my debit order was still too high.

I contacted Vodacom and eventually spoke to a consultant on 6 December, who advised me that the policy was active but that they would immediately have same cancelled. I received an SMS stating "Vodacom Insurance Cover has been CANCELLED on your account with immediate effect".

At the end of December, my debit order amount was unchanged.

I contacted Vodacom on 8 January and was told that it takes 30 days to cancel an insurance policy.

I was advised that it was necessary to phone Vodacom to advise that I would not be insuring my new phone with them DESPITE SPECIFICALLY STATING IN MY CONTRACT RENEWAL FORMS THAT I DID NOT WANT THE INSURANCE SERVICE.

This message was submitted to Vodacom via their website complaints form on 08 January, with no response
