Damaged Blackberry Bold 9900

Telecommunications

My 11 month old blackberry bold 9900 that I have on contract died on me while being on charge. Only the red light flashes and the screen has an hour glass on it, nothing else. I took the faulty phone to MTN in Maponya Mall and they've sent the phone to their repair centre in Crown Mines. After 2 weeks, they phoned me to come and collect my phone. I was over the moon with their excellent repair time as I was told it would take up to 4 - 6 weeks to have the problem fixed. To my dismay, they returned my faulty handset and advised that they are unable to fix the phone as it is Beyond Economical Repair (BER). They claim that the phone has severe liquid damage and it would be too costly for MTN to have the problem fixed or to give me another handset but I am welcome to seek help elsewhere. I am totally disgusted by this as I have not exposed my phone to water or fogginess as there are no traces on the other parts of the phone to sustain their findings. Not even my battery is damaged. What infuriates me even more is that they expect me to carry on with the remainder of the contract without having the full benefits thereof. I am extremely irate and would appreciate any support with this.
