IN ARREARS AFTER 3 YEARS WITHOUT NOTICE!!!

So i had an account with cell c since 2007. Was going fine until i was due for an upgrade. i had never, till this day recieved a statement from them and i called numerous times and ive been into the stores to query what is going on and what is my balance and i was informed by many diff people that they do not have any record of me and that my account is closed. fine, all is well and good until i receive a sms today 15.02.2013 stating that i am in arrears and its been handed over!!! RIDICULOUS!!! i call them because as far as i knew it was closed. i explain that im unaware of this R3467 balance that is owing. i was screamed at and spoken to very rudely by the staff firsty and secondly i was not given an answer as to why was i not ever called about this before or why havent i received statement etc. she informed me that they called me ONCE on the 30.11.2010, we are now in 2013. PATHETIC!!! I REFUSE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT AS I WAS NEVER INFORMED OR CONTACTED BY CELL C AND THEN I GET HANDED OVER. i find this disturbing because should i have received statements and i would have ensured it was paid.
