I received a replacement Blackberry handset from Vodacom Customer Care in Sandton Square in June 2012 and all seemed well. However, last weekend it became apparent that the handset was now non functional as it had been blacklisted (apparently by the previous owner - a prepaid user). The handset was with my (now uncontactable) student son in Cape Town. A call to 082111 informed me that I should visit the branch where the replacement unit was issued - which I did and was informed that the unit could be exchanged at a customer care outlet in CT, but that I should check this out with head office on 0821944. I did this and was referred to the blacklisting dept on 0821954. There I was informed that I couldn't be assisted until a back office investigation was performed but that they would get back to me (nothing doing for 2 days since then). I e-mailed the information to Vodacom via their website on 12 Feb - again no response whatever in 48 hours. Finally, I flew my wife to Cape Town to get the handset and take it to a customer care centre there. They said they would attempt to authorise an exchange and get back to her - again silence for 36 hours. Hey Vodacom - I'm doing all your work..
