Unlawful negative listing

I entered into cellphone contract with MTN in respect of two cellphones. The respondent stopped deducting and I assumed that the contract ended and she stopped paying. After a year when I tried buying another phone form them, they inform me they had handed over my debt without notifying me and or demanding I pay if Im still owing as they just stopped deducting as per the agreement.
