Uncapped services are essentially "capped"

Telecommunications

Mweb "Uncapped" services are NOT uncapped as described.

If you exceed the "Acceptable Use Policy"(AUP), your line gets throttled down to a speed of 320kb/s, from say a 4mb/s line, like the one I pay R680 per month for, effectively rendering your internet useless. That is after use of 140gigs in the past 30 days, what I would consider fairly normal by today's standards. New games are for eg in excess of 30gigs to download (BF4). So basically you would get throttled after downloading 4 games.

320kb/s is useless by any modern standards.

Throttling an account is still understandable to a point, the thing is Mweb's AUP is intentionally vague on where they draw the line on "Excessive use".

If they were to state you will get throttled after eg, 110gig per 30 day cycle, they can no longer call it an "Uncapped" service. I feel the AUP is intentionally vague, so they can determine throttling at their own descretion an thus use it as a legal fall back.

Now, I have cancelled my subsribtion, only to hear it will take one month to do so. (Notice period)

Misleading marketing by Mweb.

I will take the matter up with the Consumer Complains Commission. I encourage other to do so too.
