Telecommunications

I have woken up to a throttled 1 Gig uncapped line this morning.

Mweb chooses to enforce a policy and throttles customers without being willing to inform them what the threshold for my account is. The recommended solution is that we upgrade to the next line speed at a additional R100 per month, but will still not be willing to inform us what the threshold of that will be before the throttling policy is enforced. We have no time line as to when the throttling will be lifted other than a vague 1 - 3 days, if your rolling 30 total is reduced and no assurance that the "uncapped" account will be in any way effective for however long. We need to just "try not to use our account for the next three days"!

What is the point of an 'Uncapped" Internet account that can be rendered useless at the will of the ISP when they decide some secretive number has been reached. If I knew what the threshold was I could manage my account to avoid this - but in practice, should I have to do this on an "uncapped" account?

I understand the concept of shaped and fair use, but this is too much. After being with Mweb since 1997 we will be considering our options!

Mweb beware, people vote with their wallet
