I am an existing Mweb client with a 1mb uncapped account. Recently Mweb began throttling me, to the point where I can barely open gmail, or even do basic browsing, the reason given to me was that i have downloaded 140 gigs in the last 30 days and it's excessive and the throttling is a punishment. For the last 10 days I have struggled with a line speed a tenth of what I pay for. I contacted mweb today to find out how long this will last and was told i must upgrade my account to their 2mb uncapped package, if I want normal service to resume. My attempts to get a clear answer out of the customer arrive agent on how I could get my current service back without upgrading fell on deaf ears and evasive answers, it was basically upgrade or stay throttled. This is a mafia style of up selling, and I am certain it's highly illegal. I wonder how many people have fallen for this sales pitch? I am resigning my account and moving to Telkom 4mb uncapped for R644 a month. Currently less than I am paying for a 1mb line with mweb that doesn't work. Judging by the number of complaints on this site, is surprising mweb is still playing games with clients.
