I went into MTN SP Alberton City yesterday to find out about cancelling my contracts with MTN. I have been in there numerous times to get someone to come out and check the signal at my home and install a booster if it would help (I used to have a 3G contract as well and cancelled it for this very reason). So the person who assist me phoned the retentions department. The woman I spoke to there asked me if I had any reference numbers for my previous requests. I told her I didn't (Each time I requested it in person at the store, and eventually gave up and just cancelled my 3G). She asked if she could now send someone to do as I originally requested, and I told her it is pointless because I have had a number of issues with MTN and have to resort to drastic measures to get them sorted. When she gave me the penalty amounts for cancellation, the one on my main number that expires in 2 weeks is almost double the monthly bill on that account! I asked her how it is possible as my account is up to date, and I had my phone for more than 2 years. I want to leave MTN and they are making it impossible by charging me way more than I would pay had I stayed, and that is just wrong!
