Data Bundle Limit is not Limit

Telecommunications

I called Vodacom in October of last year to place a limit on a 2 gig data modem contract I took up in March 2012. I was told that the lowest limit I could place on modem was R50. The person who helped me neglected to mention that having a limit did not guarantee that my bill would not exceed the R50 limit over and above what I pay for the contract. I have just been slapped with a bill of R1076 for a contract which should cost me no more than R200. The modem does not cut one off from the internet when one reached the usage limit. In my opinion this is utter, it is a way for a big corporation to make money out of people unsuspectingly. The data limit should work the same way as having a prepaid data bundle where once your data bundle is exhausted you can no longer use the internet. This is.
