I decided to buy out my existing contract to get a new contract. I was told at Kenilworth that there is no way my number can be ported and I must get a new number. I was also told not to pay-out and close my old account until the new one is open. I did this and the new account with new number got activated. Then i asked at Tygervalley if it was possible to port my number. They told me that if I had cancelled my contract and gone through a certain procedure I would have been able to keep my old number, and that Kenilworth was wrong. they However, it was now too late to port my number as the new account had been activated. I asked how I could complain about this as I wanted to cancel the contract under the cooling off period part of the consumer protection act. I was told to contact tygervalley by phone which I did, TWICE. They told me they were too busy to deal with me both times and would call me back. After no call, i called back the next day to be told there was no record of me having called. So I missed out on the six day cooling off period and cannot cancel my contract. I am still waiting for them to get back to me. I cannot comprehend how badly Vodacom have me over!
