We have logged a number of calls over the years for noise on our line. Repairs have been carried out by Telkom but the problem always returns. During this time we stop paying our account as we cannot use the line and no one at Telkom seems to want to help find a permanent fix. Recently we paid our overdue account as this is the only way to get Telkom's attention. They sent a technician who damaged the conduit piping, left live cables on my kitchen counter and basically left a mess. He said we should get an electrician to fix it his job is just to get the line working. I since complained and stopped paying again! What do Telkom say, "we cannot do anything until you pay". Pay for what bad service, who does that?
