Telkom - In my opinion this is

Telecommunications

I recently applied for an uncapped internet service from Telkom, during my phone application of the service I was told that I have a "10 Mbps DSL line" and therefore I must take the "do Uncapped up to 10 Mbps" option. During Dec. I checked the line speed and it runs between 2 - 3.5 Mbps only. I obviously reported a fault on the line and I had a technician out to my house 3 times during December to no avail.

I spent 3 hours on the phone today to try and resolve the line speed issue once again to no avail. My questions are simple, but yet I can not get proper answers.

What is the max speed my line could run at?
What is the average speed I should expect from such a line? (Yes I understand it depends on a lot of factors, but there should be some yard stick as an average)
Why does Telkom not supply these details to a customer when they sell you a new service?

Im not a 100% sure because depending on what department you speak to you get different answers but it turns out that my line can not run faster than 4 Mbps, but yet Telkom sold me a "do Uncapped up to 10 Mbps" option and in my opinion this is. Selling me a service at a higher cost, that they know can not be achieved
