Cancellation process extremely time consuming

Good Morning

I was told that in order to cancel my contract that was expiring in January I would need to call in today otherwise I will be billed for another month. From 08h00 I have been calling. I have been put through to cancellations three times. I have been put on hold for ten minutes each time and I still haven't spoken to anyone in cancellations. Does this simple procedure have to be so difficult and time consuming to us customers who are duly forking out large monthly payments to this so called "service" provider.
