Mislead by sales consultant

I was due for an upgrade on two cell phone lines. My intention was not to upgrade my lines at all as I was changing jobs and wanted to hold on for a while.

A few months later I was called by Elite mobile. I explained to the sales consultant that I did not want to upgrade my line (and get new cell phones) given that I was changing jobs.

I asked him if it was possible to downgrade my lines to a cheaper option (i.e. not pay R400 a month for an old phone) and then when I was ready upgrade for new phones at a later stage. I was told that it was possible to downgrade and then upgrade at a later stage. I was never told that I would have to pay a cancellation fee to the network provider. I have since learnt that what the consultant could / should have offered me was a migration of my package. I was offered two free phones which I said I did not want. The consultant told me that I could give them a way if I wanted.

I raised this matter over 2 weeks ago. The only response I have got is QA checked the recordings and I agreed to the downgrade. They are back on Monday - call back then.

Pathetic.
