STRANDED OVERSEAS WITH NO WORKING PHONE ON BUSINES

On the 5th of December I contacted Altech Autopage and spoke to a Gideon in the call centre. I was going to Spain on business and wanted to open my phone for roaming. Gideon advised me that my phone was already open but went into great detail on the pricing of sms's, and phone calls etc. I was advised after much detail had been given to me that my phone would automatically pick up the relevant signal. I was told to unblock my handset before I left SA, which I did and received a confirmation sms that this had been done. When I arrived in Spain I had no service. I got one of my colleagues to phone and she was told that according to Altechs records I had only enquired about the roaming and not requested it and there was nothing they could do because I was out of the country. This is the second time in 2 years that I have requested roaming and have ended up without my phone working. When I returned to SA I phoned the call centre again and was assured that I would be contacted by a manager within 24 hours. I am still waiting. I have incurred extra costs for my account never mind the stress and inconvenience I was put under, being in a strange country on business with no means of comms.
